EUVG acquires 20-hectare property for new state-of-the-art campus

Vasco da Gama Cognitaria Association (ACVG) and Vasco da Gama University School (EUVG) have acquired a property of approximately 20 hectares to build a new state-of-the-art campus. The project will bring key clinical and pedagogical facilities in-house, which were previously developed through off-site partnerships.

Designed as a Net-Zero ecosystem—unique in Portugal—the new campus merges high-quality education, biophilia, and biosafety while meeting national and international accreditation standards (EAEVE/ESEVT) and embodying the One Health approach (interconnecting human, animal, and environmental health).

Key Project Highlights:

  • UN Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs): Active focus on animal health and biodiversity preservation (SDGs 3 & 15), educational excellence open to the local community (SDG 4), carbon neutrality, energy self-sufficiency, and circular water management (SDGs 6 & 13).
  • Equestrian Complex & Equine Hospital (North Sector): Dedicated equine hospital, stables, and indoor arena.
  • Academic & General Clinical Block (Central-North Sector): Eco-efficient Central Building (laboratories, lecture rooms, and clinical student/staff accommodation) and a Ruminant/Swine Clinical Unit.
  • Intensive Rotational Pastures (Central Sector): Dynamic meadows with rotational grazing to promote biological soil restoration.
  • Pedagogical & Public Zone (South-East Sector): Community hub featuring syntropic circular gardens and an educational farm to connect with the public.

With this expansion, ACVG/EUVG reinforces its commitment to innovation, sustainability, and leadership in Veterinary Sciences education.
